The Department of Health and Human Services estimates that one-third of adults age 65 and older have lost one or more teeth. In addition, they report that women with osteoporosis are more likely to have difficulty wearing dentures because they can become loose. To prevent osteoporosis, it is recommended that people consume plenty of calcium and Vitamin D and exercise regularly to keep bones strong. It is also wise to get regular X-rays at the dentist to check for possible density loss.
